Community Awareness Orientations
The KCSO RARE pride campaign team continued its community awareness orientations on September 13th 2013, targeting the Gateway and N-ONE hamlets. Again, the purposes of the orientation were to increase the level of knowledge within the community about the importance of the MPA; increase the knowledge about the MPA boundaries and to gain support from the community to respect the MPA rules and regulations.
The campaign team was very honored and pleased to see the huge crowd of over 200 attendants from each hamlet. Moreover, the campaign team felt that the main campaign message of respecting the MPA rules and regulations was really get across the community since the attendants were including fishers, senior citizens, youths, community leaders, church leaders and children. After three presentations from the campaign team, concerns and comments regarding the Utwe MPA raised for discussions. The main discussion was focusing the enforcement activities and boundaries of the MPA. The community expressed their desire of stricter enforcement and clear boundaries to be installed at the MPA site.
